Day 11: Procrastination, Progress, and Patience
Today brought a mix of accomplishments and realizations. While I achieved a few key wins, some recurring tasks were left incomplete, leading me to reflect on procrastination and the mental blocks that often come with it. Here’s how the day unfolded:
Tasks for the Day:
Rig the Top-Down Camera: Set up the Shuttle Pod Mini for overhead shots.
Schedule for the Week: Create a balanced plan for work and family time.
Script the Next How-To Video: Complete the first draft of the script.
Pitch Video Writing: Develop the script for an upcoming pitch.
Outdoor Time with M: Spend quality time cross-country skiing with my daughter.
Results:
What Got Done:
Successfully rigged the top-down camera, setting up a solid starting point. Future upgrades might include motorized multi-axis movement.
Enjoyed cross-country skiing with my daughter, though it came with the challenge of keeping her engaged and patient.
What Didn’t Get Done:
Scheduling for the week: Deferred to tomorrow for a more focused approach.
Scripting for the next how-to video: While excited about this task, I didn’t manage to complete it today.
Pitch video writing: Recognized as an area requiring more dedicated effort.
Lessons from Day 11:
Patterns of Procrastination: Noticing recurring delays with tasks like scheduling and pitch video writing highlighted areas I need to address.
Fear of Change: Reflecting on how past challenges—such as my wife’s postpartum depression—may subconsciously impact my ability to commit to long-term planning.
Simplifying Tomorrow’s Plan: By narrowing tomorrow’s focus to just two key tasks—scheduling and pitch writing—I hope to build momentum and break through mental blocks.
Looking Ahead:
Day 12 will center on completing the tasks that have been lingering, with a renewed commitment to staying present and focused. Onward!
