The Evolution of an Artist

The short features Kim Coates who documents his journey from his early childhood days to the present. It offers some words of advice and inspiration for others who are on their own journey as artists.

For this project, I was hired by Tourism Saskatoon to produce a campaign showcasing some of Saskatoon’s local and international talents. For this specific chapter, we chose to feature Kim Coates as we felt he would be the perfect ambassador for the city. Working with Kim Coates was an absolute privilege. He not only was easy to work with but also came with a vision for where he thought the project should go.The short features Kim Coates who documents his journey from his early childhood days to the present. Kim Coates is a Canadian-American actor who has worked in both Canadian and American films and television series. He has worked on Broadway portraying Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire and in the lead role of Macbeth performed at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. He currently stars as Tig Trager in the FX series Sons of Anarchy.

This behind the scenes film showcases how the production came together along with our thoughts on working with Kim. We also talk about passion and the role that it plays in the work we produce.Starting at the Capitol and ending at the University of Saskatchewan, Kim takes the viewer on a journey through Saskatoon as he revisits some of his old childhood hangout spots.
