Launching The Accountability Sessions

In 2010, I embarked on an ambitious journey: creating a 3-minute film every single day for an entire year. My original goal was to fast-track my technical abilities as a filmmaker, and in many ways, it worked. But as I reflect on that project over a decade later, it’s clear that its true impact extended far beyond the technical—it reshaped how I approach creativity, balance, and purpose in my life.

That year taught me the power of consistency. Filmmaking became an integral part of my identity, and while it propelled my career forward, it also revealed the importance of balance and self-care. At the start, I poured countless hours into each film—often 5 hours or more—while juggling a full-time job. Pure determination and the support of family and friends kept me going, but by the three-month mark, burnout was looming. What carried me through was the realization that this project wasn’t just about making films; it was about embracing a growth mindset and the journey of learning.

Now, as I prepare for 2025, I’m channeling those lessons into a new project: daily accountability sessions. This time, it’s not just about consistency—it’s about doing so with intention, purpose, and a healthy approach. Over the past few months, I’ve been testing the waters with accountability calls, spending a few minutes each morning outlining my goals and obstacles, and a few minutes each evening reviewing my progress. These calls have been transformative, helping me reach flow states more frequently and approach my work with a renewed sense of clarity.

What Makes This New Project Different?

This new chapter isn’t just “film-a-day 2.0.” It’s informed by the lessons of the past, but it’s also a response to what I’ve learned about myself over the years. In 2010, I often fell into the trap of saying “yes” to opportunities that didn’t align with my journey, which led to burnout. This time, I’m prioritizing vulnerability and purpose—using daily on-camera accountability sessions to not only track my progress but to share the ups and downs of the process in a more honest way.

Currently, I keep myself organized using Airtable and daily work tracking using Bullet Journaling. This new project is an addition to this workflow.

Every day, I’ll record myself walking through my goals, obstacles, and reflections—not just in work, but in life. It’s a way to document the journey, not as a polished highlight reel, but as an authentic exploration of what it means to pursue growth and balance. My hope is that by showing this process, others might feel inspired to embrace vulnerability in their own creative journeys.
